We always enjoy having our popup bookstore at the WSFNC conference not only to promote food literacy but also to learn about new efforts to improve nutrition and food access in Washington state.
This year the event is even more special for us as two of our authors–Cynthia Lair/FEEDING THE YOUNG ATHLETE and Katherine Pryor/SYLVIA’S SPINACH–will be among the presenters. Cynthia will discuss changes in school food while Kathy will speak on improving menus in health care.
Leaders in the Washington food system will describe their exciting projects and new efforts to improve nutrition and food access in schools, hospitals, restaurants and communities.
Other speakers include Chef Eric Tanaka (Tom Douglas Restaurants), Chef Tom French (Experience Food Project), Donna Parsons (OSPI Child Nutrition Director), Leika Suzumura (Tilth Community Kitchen Program Manager), Becky Selengut (chef and local food advocate), Jennifer Hinson (Chicken Soup Brigade), Michele Catalano (Full Circle).
